As Words Ireland evolves we aim to provide an information resource to writers at all stages of their careers. These resources will include:
The development of 6 factsheets on topics to include applying for funding, Garda vetting, sample contracts, writer pay, financial issues and international guidelines on getting published. These will be available to download free of charge on the Words Ireland website.
The provision of no less than 20 distinct professional development workshops, masterclasses, seminars and mentorships. The Wicklow Mentorship programme and the Mindshift programmes have already begun, the programme for this year will also include a mentorship training seminar, amongst others.
Hosting two events to connect with new communities and to provide a much needed service: the first will be the delivery of an event which focuses on effective reviewing and criticism in literature; and the second will look at issues pertinent to the Irish language sector.
A substantial piece of research work will be undertaken and published: guidelines for event programmers on payments for authors and best practice for events – at festival/in venues and in schools and libraries.
These will be appearing on the website over the coming months.
