Thursday 14 December 2017, 8pm
Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar, Co. Mayo
Words Ireland is delighted to present a night exploring the role of nature in our lives and art, featuring readings and conversation from writers Kevin Barry (There are Little Kingdoms, City of Bohane, Dark Lies the Island, and Beatlebone), and Jan Carson (Children’s Children, Malcolm Orange Disappears, Postcard Stories), and music by the legendary Dónal Lunny (Planxty, The Bothy Band, Mozaik, Moving Hearts, LAPD, Usher’s Island), and with a collaborative slant to proceedings, this will be a special night.
A Words Ireland/Arts Council Venues initiative, in partnership with the Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar, Co. Mayo, and programmed by Siobhán Kane, the pilot scheme aims to bring interesting literary-based programming to regional venues throughout 2017 – 2018.
Winter Tales is a part of a series centred around seasons, linking in a different theme with each event. Writers, and a special guest musician/band will explore the roles of nature, epiphanies (spring 2018), and transformations (summer 2018) in theirs and others’ art, and lives.
